Montana Electric Cooperatives' Association (MECA) Memorial Scholarship
MECA is offering a $500 scholarship to one qualified student from Montana's northeast district. A committee of LYREC's staff will select one applicant to advance to MECA for a chance to win the $500 scholarship. The applicant chosen by LYREC's staff will receive a $500 scholarship from LYREC, allowing the student to earn up to $1,000 in scholarships.
Note:
All submitted essays must be the original work of the applicant. Submissions will be screened using AI-detection tools to ensure authenticity. Essays that are found to be primarily generated by AI Tools may be disqualified.
To qualify:
- The applicant's parent/legal guardian must be a LYREC member.
- The applicants must be a high school senior with plans to attend a university or vocational technical school, or be an undergraduate college student.
To apply:
- Attach a copy of your school transcript, grades, and ACT/SAT scores;
- List all school and community activities, awards, and/or honors received and a description of any other extracurricular activities and volunteer service in a resume-style format;
- List all high school and/or college employment, including employer, position, and hours worked weekly;
- Attach one letter of reference.
- Include a personal statement: Write about how your school/community work activities will influence your goals and career choice. This statement should be no more than two double-spaced typed pages.
